Understanding Heat Pumps & Dual Fuel Systems

Are you confused about the difference between a heat pump and a dual fuel system? Let us help clear things up for you!

A heat pump is a device that can both heat and cool your home by transferring heat between the inside and outside of your home. It works by extracting heat from the outside air or ground and pumping it inside when you need to warm your home, and vice versa for cooling. Heat pumps are energy-efficient and can save you money on your energy bills compared to traditional heating and cooling systems.

On the other hand, a dual fuel system is a hybrid system that combines a heat pump with a backup furnace. This system is ideal for colder climates where temperatures can drop below freezing, making it difficult for a heat pump to efficiently heat your home. The backup furnace kicks in to provide heat when the heat pump is less efficient or cannot keep up with demand.

If you’re considering upgrading your heating and cooling system, a heat pump or dual fuel system may be the right choice for you.
